Waterbeds:
It might not be your first consideration when looking to buy a new mattress, but a waterbed is a great product to purchase. Waterbeds primarily consist of three types, hard-sided mattresses, soft-sided mattresses and conversional mattresses. There are several key points to consider when deciding if a waterbed might better serve your sleeping needs over a spring or memory foam mattress. The life span, support, comfort control, maintenance, and the ability to heat the mattress are all factors that can influence a decision on a waterbed mattress.
Life Span- Compared to a spring or memory foam mattress which should be replaced about every 5-7 years, with proper maintenance a waterbed can last anywhere from 10-15 years and will never lose its shape.
Support- In a traditional mattress lumbar support is typically featured in more expensive mattress models. In waterbeds support can be placed directly into the water chamber for added support.
Comfort Control- With spring and memory foam beds comfort is offered in soft, semi-soft, and firm. With a waterbed using a Dual Bladder or Tube System each side of the mattress can be personalized for individual comfort preferences.
Maintenance- Traditional beds don’t require more than an occasional flip or rotation when sagging becomes noticeable. With waterbeds they require occasional wiping, as well as a water conditioner treatment about every 6 months.
