The layering techniques may vary, but the traditional futon mattress is great for year round use. The cotton allows the mattress to be breathable, keeping you warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. Innerspring futon mattresses are the closest to resembling traditional bed mattresses. The innerspring mattresses are best suited for standard futons that do not require the mattress to fold more than one time. Innerspring futon mattresses can also be used as mattresses on platform beds as well. Finally, futon beds come in latex or memory foam. The memory foam mattresses form to the sleeper’s body, and are similar to any traditional memory foam mattress.
